The film has collected around 67 crores (as per early estimates) in its first week at the box office. Dream Girl is headed towards an 90 crore lifetime mark at the box office in the worst case scenario. It can go higher depending on how it sustains post Jawan release.
The film is now a HIT at the box office as the distributors are already in profits based on the first week distribution share. The distribution rights of the film had been sold for around 27 crores to Pen Marudhar and the film has already earned a shared of around 32 crores from the first week itself.
Some percentage of the distribution overflows should flow to producers after the second week perhaps. The film has marked a good comeback for Ayushmann Khurrana at the box office after disastrous couple of years at the box office. He has a major biggie in hands - Sourav Ganguly Biopic and if that film is well made, it has a huge potential at the box office.
The film is the 4th Consecutive HIT for Bollywood in the last one months after Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Gadar 2 and OMG 2. Bollywood is back and how. This streak should continue with Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan as well.
Another important point to note is that, post Pandemic, all the sequels and franchise films have worked at the box office. There hasn't been a single such film which didn't work at the box office so this gives a clear indication of the appetite of the audience to watch such films at the theaters.
